Season 112012 =LINK=

The eleventh season of American Idol premiered on Fox on January 18, 2012. The show aired on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8/7c.[1] Ryan Seacrest returned as host,[2] while Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler,[3] and Jennifer Lopez[4] all returned as judges. Interscope Records Chairman Jimmy Iovine, a songwriter and producer, also returned as an in-house mentor to work with the contestants on a weekly basis.[5] This season followed the same format as season 10. Tyler and Lopez announced that they would be leaving the show two months after the finale.[6][7] Lopez later returned as a judge for the show's thirteenth season.[8]

Season 112012

The season set a record when 132 million votes were gathered for the finale. On May 23, 2012, Phillip Phillips became the winner of the eleventh season of American Idol, beating Jessica Sanchez, the first female recipient of the judges' save.[9]

The semi-finals round started on February 28. Below are the two semi-final groups (males and females) with contestants listed in their performance order. The top five males and top five females, along with the three wild card choices by the judges, advanced to the finals. The males started the semifinal round, and the females continued on following night's episode, the contestants perform songs of their choice. This season, long-time vocal coach Debra Byrd was replaced by Jimmy Iovine's own team in the live shows.[44]

In this season, maintaining the previous season's format, there were 12 weeks of the finals and 13 finalists, with one finalist eliminated per week based on the American public's votes, with the exception of two weeks ('Top 13' had the judges eliminate one contestant from the two who received a lower vote for each gender, and 'Top 12' had Jones' facing disqualification). Previous season's winner Scotty McCreery recorded the Tim McGraw song cover "Please Remember Me" as the song played during the eliminated contestant's montage. Jimmy Iovine reprised his role as a weekly mentor to contestants, frequently assisted by guest mentors. This season, the fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger and Soyon An were employed as image advisers for the Top 10 finalists.[62]

Jermaine Jones was disqualified prior to the Wednesday performance show for failing to disclose his criminal past.[63] Footage of executive producers Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick confronting Jones was shown in what would have been his performance slot, in between Van Pelt's and Laine's performances.[64] A clip of his rehearsal, singing "Somewhere Out There", was shown after his removal from the competition. He was not replaced and the elimination went ahead as normal, unlike the situation seen in season 2 due to the disqualification of Corey Clark. will.i.am served as this week's guest mentor.

The premiere was watched by 21.93 million viewers. While at the time it drew the second largest audience of any entertainment program in the television season, it was down 16 percent from the previous year's premiere, which was watched by 26.23 million viewers.[96] After seven consecutive years as the most watched program on primetime television (eight years in the 18/49 demo), the eleventh season of American Idol came in second place to NBC Sunday Night Football in total viewers, as well as in the 18/49 demo.[97]

Lynn, used primarily as a starter in the regular season (18-7, 3.78 ERA), was making his third relief appearance of the NLDS. He faced two batters in relief of Adam Wainwright in the first game. He struck out Jayson Werth swinging with the bases loaded and two outs in the sixth inning to hold a 2-1 Cardinals lead. In that second game slugfest, Lynn yielded two solo home runs to Ryan Zimmerman and Adam LaRoche in a three-inning relief appearance, but managed to strike out five Nationals, including Werth, and record the victory. In fact, Werth struck out five times in those first two games.

The 716th episode and 14th episode of Saturday Night Live's 37th season premiered on February 11, 2012. It was hosted by actress and musician Zooey Deschanel, star of the hit FOX's comedy series New Girl, with musical guest was Karmin, a pop duo, who performed "Brokenhearted" and "I Told You So." This was Zooey Deschanel's only time hosting and the only musical guest appearance on SNL for Karmin.

This was the final game of the regular season for the Pacers, who head to the USA South tournament as the No. 8 seed. Peace will square off against No. 9 North Carolina Wesleyan in the first round at 9:00 AM in Burlington.

They may not have cheerleaders at their events, nor a rap song recorded about their exploits, but the University of Nevada, Reno's debate team has yet again quietly wrapped up another historic collegiate parliamentary debate season, finishing 18th in the nation.

The team finished its season at Western Washington University with two final competitions: the invitation-only National Parliamentary Tournament of Excellence March 17-19 and the more-open National Parliamentary Debate Association's Championship March 22-24. Eight debaters from the University competed with more than 220 teams in the second tournament, with Nevada finishing 14th in the culminating tournament overall.

Barley yellow dwarf virus continues to be widespread especially in south central and eastern Nebraska. Some fields are more severely affected than others. Yellowing and/or purpling of top leaves starting from the tip and margins are typical symptoms of barley yellow dwarf (Figure 4). Nothing can be done to control virus diseases during the current growing season.

There have been inquiries regarding the impact of wheat diseases on a subsequent crop such as soybean or corn planted in ground that had wheat during the current growing season. Most wheat diseases do not affect corn or soybean. The exception is Fusarium head blight (scab). The fungus that causes scab also causes stalk rots and to some extent root rot in corn. Therefore, there is some elevated risk for these diseases in corn if the corn is planted into no-till wheat ground that had scab. This growing season, however, the risk of scab is low. Therefore, those planning to plant soybean or corn into wheat ground this season should not worry about wheat diseases.

(Phys.org) -- Researchers at North Carolina State University aren’t looking for any surprises with the 2012 hurricane season – they believe that storm activity in the Atlantic basin will be in line with historic averages. googletag.cmd.push(function() googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1449240174198-2'); ); According to Dr. Lian Xie, professor of marine, earth and atmospheric sciences, and collaborators Dr. Montserrat Fuentes, professor of statistics, and graduate student Morgan Lennon, 2012 should see 7 to 10 named storms forming in the Atlantic basin, which includes the entire Atlantic Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. This number is slightly lower than the (1950-2010) 60-year average of 10.5 named storms.

Xie stresses that although the probability of a major Atlantic hurricane striking the U.S. is expected to be less than 50 percent this year, even relatively minor storms can still cause major damage, particularly inland flooding. Therefore, coastal residents are advised to pay close attention to short-term hurricane weather forecasts as the 2012 hurricane season unfolds.

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30. For more details concerning Xie’s methodology, input data and predictions, visit the research group’s website at: cfdl.meas.ncsu.edu/research/TCoutlook_2012.html . Provided byNorth Carolina State University

Michigan State won the Big Ten Tournament in 2004 and 2008 as well, and in 2008 won both the regular-season title in addition to the post-season title. MSU is the third team to win the tournament as a No. 5 seed, as Ohio State did it in 2000, and MSU pulled it off with their first tournament title in 2004.

That tying goal for the Wolverines finally came with 2:42 remaining in regulation. After Bennett came up with big saves on leading scorer Tyler Arnone (82nd minute) and Kofi Opare on a header attempt in the 85th minute, Roehn was able to flick the ball over Bennett and the slow roller found its intended target. It was Roehn's fourth goal of the season, and a big one to keep Michigan's season alive.

For many businesses, the start of the 2012 U.S. East Coast hurricane season coincides with a particularly precarious time: Although the economy in some areas of the world appears to be edging toward recovery, budgets remain tight and insurance rates for Property Catastrophe coverage are up as much as 25...

The Sun Devils turned on the firepower in the second half though, outscoring CSUB 9-3 over the final two quarters on the heels of a season-high four goals from senior Annabelle Carter to cruise to the 16-7 win.

Ianeta Hutchinson was solid in the goal again, posting seven saves to the seven goals allowed. Brightwell added three assists on the match for six points in the contest while Kelsey White had a season-high four assists.
