Plot Summary
Saya's mission
The movie follows the story of Saya (Jun Ji-hyun), a 400-year-old half-human, half-vampire who works for a secret organization called the Council. The Council is dedicated to hunting down and killing vampires, who are also known as Chiropterans (Japanese: 飛翼人, Hepburn: Hiyokujin), meaning "winged people". Saya is the only one who can kill the Chiropterans with her katana, as she has their blood in her veins.
The movie begins in 1970, on the eve of the Vietnam War. Saya is sent to an American military base in Tokyo, Japan, where she poses as a high school student. Her mission is to infiltrate the base and kill Onigen (Koyuki), the leader of the Chiropterans and Saya's archenemy. Saya believes that by killing Onigen, she will end the war between humans and vampires, and also avenge her father's death.

We also see how Saya was turned into a half-vampire by Onigen, who attacked her village and killed her father. Onigen bit Saya and injected her with her blood, but Saya survived the transformation and swore to kill Onigen for what she did.
